This album marks a new field for Cape Town composer, arranger and pianist, Charles Segal. The idea of making an indigenous all-African disc has been floating around in his fingers for about two years. With a little help from his friends, Anton De Waal, Dorothy Arenson, Syd Norton and Rollo Scott it has now become a reality.

South Africa has a wealth of good local music that few people have bothered to find out more about. The tribal chants and ethnic rhythm patterns of the Bantu have an excitement that is rarely found in European music.

On this album, Charles has manipulated his piano behind a fairly simple but good rhythm section. The bass and woodwind sections are superb. The essence of the disc is on a pert, bouncy beat that is guaranteed to get your fingers tapping.
