The Brave New World Tour by Iron Maiden began on 2 June 2000 and ended on 19 January 2001. The three 2002 dates listed below were fundraisers for former drummer Clive Burr rather than part of the tour. It supported their 2000 album Brave New World. In Europe, the tour was called Metal 2000. The initial batch of dates included just one in Iron Maiden's homeland. Everybody in the band would like to do a thirty-date tour of 1,500-2,000-seaters, maintained Bruce Dickinson, but we've got a tour booked. It was their first studio release since the return of longtime lead singer Bruce Dickinson who left in 1993 and guitarist Adrian Smith who left in 1990 in 1999, as well as the band's first studio recording as a six-piece, as Janick Gers, who replaced Smith in 1990, remained with the band. The Brave New World Tour was the tour in support of the album, during which the show at Rock in Rio was recorded and later released as a live album and video. Iron Maiden, Brave New World - Live at Rock in Rio 2001. a huge sounding drum room, loads of glass so we could all get eye contact with each other while we were playing, Dickinson told Detritus. At the same time, I could do my vocals completely live and be separated from all the racket. Brave New World was Iron Maidens last album to go gold in the U. though thats likely more of a reflection on universally declining album sales than any indication of the quality of the records that followed. The disc debuted at No. 39 on the Billboard album charts and was generally well-received by critics and fans
