Notes

Moses Taiwa Molelekwa - Live in Jo'burg

Anointed by the random hand of talent, the late Moses Taiwa Molelekwa was born April 17, 1973 in the township of Tembisa, Johannesburg and raised to the sounds of Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Moses love of music was fortunately nurtured by his father and at an early age he already performed at KIPPIE'S - a premier jazz club. In 1988 he joined Hugh Masekela's band and later toured the US with Dorothy Masuka and Julian Bahula. Moses growing reputation also brought himwork with Miriam Makeba. The two studio albums he released were heralded in the west as cutting edge and also earned him several South African Music Awards. Despite his limited recording career, he was acknowledged as a "modern great". He had widened his range by producing other artists including Sibongile Khumalo and TKZee the biggest selling Kwaito group. Taiwa's last project with classical virtuoso pianist Joanna MacGregor (June 200) took him on tour of the UK and South Africa.
