Album

Originally conceived as a double album, Parade has the sprawling feel of a double record, even if it clocks in around 45 minutes. Album 1986 12 Songs. Peppers-era Beatles. The album comes on strong and playful, stripped-back yet bursting with color. There are a handful of classics here in the steel-drum double-dutch of New Position and the 40s fantasia Under the Cherry Moon, but nothing reaches the heights of Kiss, which makes more of empty space than most artists make of sound. Parade is the eighth studio album by American recording artist Prince, and the fourth and final album to feature The Revolution as his backing band. It also was the soundtrack album to the 1986 film Under the Cherry Moon, directed by and starring Prince. It was released on March 31, 1986 by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Parade eschews the guitar and rock elements of Prince's 1984 album Purple Rain in favor of the psychedelic pop style he explored on Around the World in a Day 1985. Trumpet: Al Vizutti Viola: Alan Deverich Viola: Alan Harshman Engineer: Arne Frager Double Bass: Arni Egilsson Violin: Assa Drori Mastering Engineer: Bernie Grundman Violin: Betty was the follow-up to Around the World in a Day and the soundtrack to Prince's second film. The album sees Prince further diversifying musically, adding orchestrations to his music and presenting a very European feel. Prince also displayed a new image with Parade: his trademark ruffled shirts, wild curly hair, and purple outfits which defined his look from 1981's Controversy to 1985's Around the World in a Day gave way to slicked-back hair and dress suits. Psychedelic-tinged 1986 album, as the soundtrack to Under The Cherry Moon. Includes Kiss and Mountains. Calling this one of Prince's most interesting albums doesn't do justice to how kicky and playable it is. Well, lets ignore the last 20 years and understand that this album really is one of the greats, from the short and sweet Christopher Tracey's Parade to the stone classics Mountains there's not a bad track on this. As an introduction to the man you might be better with 1999 or Purple Rain but as a creative peak you can't look much further than this
