Quite a mixed bag we have here. It's in Bruton's BRI category which usually entails something futuristic or industrial if I'm not mistook, but some songs here aren't always electronic.

The first few songs have a similar sound to Japan (the 80s band) which, as a huge fan of theirs, highly interests me as it's definitely not every day you hear something that similar to a band as distinctive as them. Both "Synopsis" and "Talkover" are great songs. The only one I think rivals them is the beautiful, elusive "Feather Bed" which has more of an arpeggio/sci fi style. "Handle With Care", "Serious Business" and "Perfume Production" continue it's somber mood and it's futuristic synths nicely.

James Asher's side is a bit disappointing in comparison. It's more acoustic/electric than Trevor Bastow's side and at the end there's a couple of rockish numbers that felt really boring. It all feels kind of thrown in with the other side without fitting with it so much, whereas at least all the songs on Bastow's side were somewhat bound together through the synth arpeggios.

I notice 'bed' is some sort of library lingo alongside stuff like 'mag' and 'sting'. I think it means something you leave in the background of another sound (thus the description calling the songs 'underlays for voice') but I'm not sure.
