I knew nothing about Fado before we started planning this trip and what a revelation it has been to discover such beautiful, soulful music. I don't have the knowledge to compare this version to any other version of this musical genre, but I can tell you we have thoroughly enjoyed this CD. Listening to it, I can imagine sitting in a Lisboa cafe, sipping Port or sherry and basking in the glow of Fado ballads performed live. I'm not knowledgeable about fado, but following a visit to Portugal I wanted to have some of the music. This disk turned out to be a good choice with a good variety of artists and styles. It's enjoyable without being too demanding on understanding or attention.
